Amy Gulley came and spoke Friday night and Saturday afternoon bringing the Word of God to refresh many hearts. I actaully really enjoyed the conference and enjoyed Amy Gulley because she had so many truths that spoke into my life! I loved how her sermons weren't very long, but the deep truth that she spoke on was just enough! Here's a few things that stood out to me that she hit on:
- Promises of God: A rainbow is acuatlly a reflection of white light that comes from the sun. The white light always has the colors of the rainbow, but it is only seen when the white light bounces off the rain forming a prism that reflects all the beautiful colors of a rainbow. The neat thing is, is that the colors of the rainbow are always there, whether we see them or not! It's like the promises of God! Whether God speaks a specific promise or just a Word from scripture, we know that it's true whether we can see it or not! God is faithful in all he does and He is faithful to His promises!
- "You're not sick, you're thirsty." Amy shared that she read a medical book that explained how one doctor treated his patients with a glass of water. The doctor said that so many people come in thinking they are sick, when really they are dehydrated. So he literally treated his patients with water and they became well. That's how a lot of us are today ( and I sure can relate.) We think we have these issues or these addictions or were miserable with relationships or whatever the case may be, when really these effects are caused by our heart longing to be fulfilled. We turn to other things rather than the source of life and think those things will make us well. The truth is, is that we are thirsting for the Living God and he is the only one who can fill us and make us well. So it's not that we are sick( with problems, issues, relationships) it's that we are not being filled with the presence of God!
- God hates unbelief: Amy hit hard on unbelief because it is the very thing that aligns us with the enemy rather than with God. Unbelief attacks the charatcer of God and chokes out room for faith. "An apple seed has everything it needs to become an apple tree." The same is with the promises of God. When He gives us a promise it is like an apple seed. The promise will be fulfilled because God is faithful. However, if we store that apple seed/promise on rocky soil that wavers with unbelief, we will choke out the faith( which God graciously gives us) and we may not see the promise come to pass. Our worry, anxiety, or doubts will choke the seed. On the other hand, if we store that seed in soil full of faith, knowing God is good and He is faithful in all He does, we will see the apple seed be all that God intended it to be!
